Punjab kisan card:
The Kisan Card was officially launched in June 2024, and the distribution began on August 14. Registration for the card is still open, and the Punjab government has allocated a significant amount of PKR 64 billion, with a total project cost of PKR 150 billion. Through this initiative, the Chief Minister of Punjab aims to provide interest-free loans to 500,000 farmers, along with additional benefits. Farmers who apply for the Kisan Card will be eligible for these benefits. Registration is still ongoing.

If you have already applied and possess the Kisan Card, you can participate in these schemes. Otherwise, you won’t be eligible for these benefits if you haven’t applied for the card.
How to Apply for the Kisan Card
To apply, go to the message option on your phone using your personal SIM card. Type “PKC,” add a space, then enter your National ID card number, and send it to 8070. Ensure you have at least PKR 3 in your balance for the SMS to be sent.

Eligibility Criteria for the Kisan Card:
- Land ownership between 1 acre and 12 acres.
- Verified land ownership from the Agriculture Land Record Center.
- The mobile SIM card must be registered under the applicant’s National ID number.
If your Kisan Card has expired, you can renew it and reapply by updating your land record at the Land Record Center. Once corrected, type “PKC,” add a space, and then your National ID number, and send it to 8070 within 24 hours.
You will receive an SMS from 8070 confirming your application has been completed.

Loan Distribution and Usage for Card Holders
Those who have received the Kisan Card can use it to access various subsidies and loans. However, note that this card cannot be used at ATMs. Some farmers were asking if they could withdraw funds from ATMs, but the loan distribution will be managed by selected dealers designated by the Government of Punjab.
Loan Amount: Up to PKR 150,000.
Repayment Period: Four months, with an additional grace period up to the fifth month.
Service Charge: PKR 1,000 per PKR 30,000 borrowed, to be deducted from the loan.
Subsidies: Available on fertilizers, seeds, and medicines, accessible through registered dealers chosen by the Punjab government.
